Director of the Regional Coordination Office for Eastern Europe and his Deputy visit Armenian Police

On Tuesday, March 24 Head of the RA Police Headquarters, Police Major General Aram Zaqaryan received Director of the Regional Coordination Office for Eastern Europe, Italian National Police Colonel Paolo Sartori and his Deputy, Italian National Police Lieutenant Colonel Lorenzo Lebini.
Welcoming the guests, Mr. Zaqaryan noted that he attaches great importance to the well-established cooperation between the Police of the Republic of Armenia and Italian National Police, which was documented by the Agreement on "Police cooperation between the Armenian and Italian Governments" concluded in Rome on April 23, 2010. The determination to further deepen bilateral links was also affirmed during the meeting of Head of the RA Police, Lieutenant General Vladimir Gasparyan and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Italy to the Republic of Armenia Giovanni Ricciulli held on February 5, 2014.
Mr. Sartori expressed his appreciation for the warm welcome and, in his turn, introduced his Deputy Mr. Lorenzo Lebini, acting Interpol Liaison Officer, Attaché in Bulgaria and Georgia, who will henceforth be responsible for coordinating work with Police of the Republic of Armenia, too.
The two sides also dicussed other issues of mutual concern, namely information exchange, international cooperation between the police structures of the two countries, possible training courses for police officers.
The Delegation of the Italian National Police was received by Head of the General Department on combating organized crime of the RA Police, Police Colonel Rafayel Zaqaryan later that same day. Among issues discussed at the meeting were several important aspects of the Cooperation Agreement, namely fight against transnational organized crime, illicit drug trafficking, human trafficking, illegal migration and etc. An agreement was reached to maintain close cooperation in the field of information exchange.
Next the Italian delegation met with Head of the General Department of Criminal Intelligence of the RA Police, Police Colonel Gagik Avetisyan, who first introduced the structure of the Department and its main functions, then touched upon the police cooperation between the two countries in the sphere of detection of wanted fugitives and missing persons.
Within the framework of the visit the Italian delegation was also received by Head of the Educational Complex of the RA Police, Police Lieutenant General Hovhannes Varyan, who provided a detailed overview of the three-level system of police education and the educational processes of the training centre and the College.
Mr. Varyan also spoke about the cooperation with international police educational institutions. The two sides assured of their readiness to further deepen the police cooperation in the relevant sphere.
At the end of the meeting the members of the Italian delegation toured the Police Educational complex, visited its library, gyms, shooting range, auditoriums, as well as the newly-established Police Heritage Museum.
