STATEMENT

We would hereby like to inform You that based on the preliminary results of the internal investigation launched in the RA Police in connection with the incidents that occurred in Yerevan’s Khorenatsi street on July 19 and Yerevan’s Sari Tagh quarter in the night of July 29/30, a number of police officers have faced disciplinary actions.

1. For improper performance of their service duties, namely incorrect deployment of the subordinate forces for the protection of public order and public security, failure to undertake proper measures necessitated by the situation, to restrict the protester’s entry into the security zone, as well failure to take sufficient measures for preventing cases of using violence against citizens and journalists and inflicting damage to their equipment, a severe admonition was issued to the following police officers:
-Head of the Yerevan City Department, Police Major General Ashot Karapetyan;
- Commander of the police regiment of the Patrol-Sentry Service, Police Colonel Khachatur Avetisyan;
- Deputy Commander of the Police regiment of the Patrol-Sentry service, Police Colonel Hrayr Hayrapetyan;
- Deputy Commander of the Police regiment of the Patrol-Sentry service, Police Colonel Mkrtich Antonyan;
- Commander of the 3-rd Special battalion of the Police regiment of the Patrol-Sentry service, Police Major Khachatur Hovakimyan.

2. For improper performance of their service duties, namely failure to properly organize the service, to undertake necessary measures for the protection of public order and public security, as well as failure to prevent people in civilian clothes from using violence against citizens and journalists and inflicting damage to the equipment thereof
-Commander of the 3-rd company of the 2nd battalion of the 1032nd military unit Nazaret Gevorgyan received a severe admonition;
-Deputy Commander of the 1st company of the 1st battalion, Senior Lieutenant Roman Hovhannisyan received a severe admonition;
-Commander of the 1st company of the 1st battalion, Captain Armen Hovhannisyan received a severe admonition;
-Deputy Commander of the 3rd battalion of the Public Security regiment of the Police Troops (military unit number 1032), Head of the Headquarter, Major Vardges Poghosyan received an admonition;
-Commander of the 3rd company of the 3rd battalion of the same regiment, Captain Arman Mnoyan received an admonition;
- Commander of the 1st platoon of the 3rd company of the 2nd battalion, Senior Lieutenant Narek Hunanyan received an admonition;
- Commander of the 3rd platoon of the 1st company of the 3rd battalion, Senior Lieutenant Vahan Simonyan received an admonition;
- Commander of the 3rd platoon of the 3rd company of the 2nd battalion, Lieutenant Hrach Markosyan received an admonition;
- Deputy Commander of the 2nd platoon of the 3rd battalion, Lieutenant Gor Araqelyan received an admonition;

3. Taking into account the fact that according to the results of the internal investigation, several data concerning the use of excessive force by a number of police officers were obtained, in pursuance of the RA Police Chief’s order, the powers of the following employees were suspended:
- Head of the operative division of the Headquarters of the Police troops, Colonel Lernik Yernosyan;
-Deputy Head of Davitashen subdivision of Mashtots division of the Yerevan City Department of the RA Police, Lieutenant Colonel Karen Buniatyan;
-Senior Operations officer of the 2nd subdivision of the Criminal Intelligence division of the Yerevan City Department of the RA Police, Police Captain Artur Hakobyan;
- Senior Operations officer of the 6th subdivision of the Criminal Intelligence division of the Yerevan City Department of the RA Police, Police Senior Lieutenant Artur Gevorgyan.

The internal investigations into the activities of the mentioned persons have been submitted to the Special Investigation service of the Republic of Armenia for giving a criminal legal assessment.

Simultaneously we would like to inform You that for the failure to be aware of the operational situation, insufficient operative and preventive activity, improper performance of their service duties, apart from the Heads of Nor-Nork and Erebuni divisions of the Yerevan Cit Department,
-Deputy Head of Spitak division of the Lori marz Department, Police Lieutenant Colonel Garun Poghosyan has been dismissed from his post.
