ARMENIAN POLICE DELEGATION VISITS THE SWISS CONFEDERATION

A delegation of Police of the Republic of Armenia led by Head of the RA Police Headquarters, Police Major General Aram Zaqaryan paid a visit to the Swiss Confederation on May 3-5, 2016.
The aim of the OSCE-supported visit was to discuss the results of the cooperation between the Geneva Centre for the Democratic Control of Armed Forces and Police of the Republic of Armenia and outline the priorities and main directions of the 2016 Action Plan.
Within the framework of the visit the Police delegation had several meetings at the Head office of the Geneva Centre for the Democratic Control of Armed Forces.
During the meeting with Deputy Director of the Geneva Centre for the Democratic Control of Armed Forces, Dr. Philipp Fluri work accomplished in accordance with the 2015 Cooperation program between the RA Police and the Geneva Centre for the Democratic Control of Armed Forces was summed up.
The two sides expressed satisfaction with what has been achieved and assured of their readiness to continue and deepen the fruitful cooperation particularly in the following directions: development of police officers' professional skills by holding targeted refresher training courses and rountables, improving the management effectiveness within the Police and increasing power structures' awareness about human rights and fundamental liberties, gender policy, prevention of domestic violence and etc.
The members of our delegation also had meetings at DCAF units for Gender policy, fight against domestic violence, migration and human trafficking and etc., where a number of police programs being held by the DCAF Centre were thouroughly presented to the Armenian delegates.
The visit concluded with the formal signing of the 2016 Cooperation program between the Police of the Republic of Armenia and the Geneva Centre for the Democratic Control of Armed Forces.
