Deputy Police Chief receives Deputy Assistant Secretary of State at the U.S. Department of State's Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (VIDEO)

On Thursday, February 11, 2016 First Deputy Head of Police of the Republic of Armenia, Police Lieutenant General Hunan Poghosyan received the delegation led by James A. Walsh, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State at the U.S. Department of State's Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs.
Welcoming the guests, Hunan Poghosyan highlighted the importance of the international cooperation in the sphere of counteraction to illicit drug trafficking and conveyed Armenian Police Chief’s positive assessment of working meetings conducted in this field.
James A. Walsh thanked for the warm welcome extended to them and expressed satisfaction with the high level partnership in the sphere of fight against human trafficking and illicit drug trafficking.
Mr. Poghosyan noted that taking into account Armenia’s geographical position, the problem of narcotic drugs has always been the focus of the Police leadership and every effort is made to counteract all the challenges and threats. As for the cooperation, it should be noted that it has achieved to such a point from where a transition to a qualitatively new level should be made.
James A. Walsh attached importance to deepening collaboration in the spheres of joint work, exchange of experience, personnel training in different directions, which include the major aim of world's law enforcement bodies, namely to jointly fight against crime, in particular, the illicit drug trafficking.
The meeting agenda also included other issues of mutual interest.
