STATEMENT

Some information has been disseminated through a number of media according to which Police officer Gagik Zohrabyan partook in the July 29 incidents that occurred in Sari Tagh quarter, namely, wearing civilian clothes, he used violence against journalists and citizens.
Police of the Republic of Armenia is officially stating that within the framework of the internal investigation launched in the Internal Security Department of the RA Police, according to the preliminary results achieved up to now , no case of using violence which involved Gagik Zohrabyan has been revealed.
Apart from that, G. Zohrabyan was in Sari Tagh under the instruction of the Police Chief, as an employee of the operative and preventive division and he was performing his service duties, which also include verifying information concerning use of violence against journalists by persons in civilian clothes.
That day violence was used against Gagik Zohrabyan as well.
Simultaneously we would like to inform You that G. Zohrabyan has nothing to do with the hooligan behavior displayed by “A Pavel Sasunyan” Facebook user on journalist Tehmine Yenoqyan's profile.
Taking into account the fact that an investigation within the criminal case initiated in connection with those events is underway at the Special Investigation Service of the Republic of Armenia and an internal investigation has been appointed at the Internal Security Department of the RA Police, additional information will be provided upon the completion thereof.
