Man arrested after firing shots on Vardanants street, Yerevan

On Saturday May 17 at 1:25 p.m. Police Central division received a report of shots fired on Vardanants street, Yerevan.
After arriving at the scene operatives established that 5 people were hospitalized with gunshot wounds after being shot by an unknown man in the vicinity of the building at 18 Vardanants street, Yerevan. Six 9 mm pistol-calibre cartridges and 1 bullet were found by crime scene investigators.
A criminal case has been initiated under the Republic of Armenia Criminal Code, article 235, part 1 and article 258, part 4.
A number of examinations have been assigned.
Thanks to the operational search measures and investigative actions taken by officers of Yerevan City Department along with their colleagues from Police Central division the offender was soon identified as RA citizen Gor S., DOB 1985.
On Sunday May 18 Gor A. turned himself in to the Police following explanatory works carried out by police officers. The offender handed over his “Makarov” pistol to the Police.
Gor A. is arrested.
Preliminary investigation is underway.
