Illegal deforestation

On October 12 in Vanadzor Police department a message was received from Lori territorial department of the State Environmental Inspectorate of the Ministry of Nature Protection informing that in March of the current year on the administrative territory of Vanadzor city, in the north-eastern part of Darpas village, the police officers found out 111 trees of different species and diameters, cut down by unknown persons.
On October 15, a criminal case was excited according to the 1-st part of the 177-th article of the RA Criminal code.
Due to the measures undertaken in the process of the preliminary investigation, it was found out that in 2009, September, Jivan S., born in 1989, cut down and transferred on a bogie, i.e. secretly stole 10 willows /1.27 sq.m./ from the Pambak river coastal area.
The preliminary investigation is continuing.
