Festivities dedicated to the 96-th anniversary of Armenian Police 16.04.2014 (VIDEO and PHOTOS)
Yesterday, on April 16 Police of the Republic of Armenia - the law enforcement body which has been standing on the frontline of maintenance of public order and fight against crime for already 96 years – solemnly celebrated its professional holiday which is often simply called "The Police Day".
The annual wreath-laying ceremony at the monuments to Aram Manukyan and “Soldier of law and order” was held. Members of the Collegium of the RA Police, police top brass, veterans, guests and Head of the RA Police, Lieutenant General Vladimir Gasparyan paid a tribute of respect and gratitude to all the generations of Armenian police officers.
The wreath-laying ceremony was followed by a solemn meeting convened in the newly-repaired session hall of the RA Police.
To the strains of the march the flags of the Republic of Armenia and the Armenian Police were brought to the hall. The Armenian National Anthem was played at the start of the meeting.
Chief of the Armenian Presidential Administration Vigen Sargsyan was given the floor to proclaim the letter of congratulations of Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan. A group of police officers were given state awards on behalf of the Armenian President.
Armenian Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan, acting RA Minister of Emergency Situations Armen Yeritsyan, Armenian Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan, Head of the National Security Service, Colonel General Gorik Hakobyan, Acting RA Minister of Justice Hrayr Tovmasyan, Head of the Special Investigation Service Vahram Shahinyan also made congratulatory speeches on occasion of the Police day. A number of officers were awarded and honoured by them.
First Deputy Head of Police of the NKR, Police Colonel Andranik Hakobyan was given the floor to proclaim the congratulatory letter of Head of Police of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic Kamo Aghajanyan. By the decree of the NKR Police Chief a number of RA police officers were given awards.
The congratulatory letter of Head of the Volgograd Academy of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs was proclaimed next.
Then decrees of Head of Police of the Republic of Armenia, Lieutenant Colonel Vladimir Gasparyan were proclaimed and the Police Chief himself summed up the solemn meeting.
The festive events dedicated to the 96th anniversary of Armenian Police were concluded with a holiday concert.
